Now that ive got your attention....

There are many fur bearing mammals that id really appreciate havesting. However, most of these animals, im not interested in eating much of. HOWEVER i dont want my harvest to go to waste. (or id like to waste as little as possible). I want Pelts, fat, and some organs like livers and brains. Im sure id enjoy tasting some of the meat but would anybody benefit from this meat? Maybe as im a novice hunter, anybody could trade some expertise or tips for meat?

I guess off the top of my head, the animals id like to harvest but not dine on would be fox and coyote. Does anybody have interest?
Thanks

haha, a aussie bloke asked a similar question on another forum..... that above comment was nice, compared to some he was replied with... hahaha

Sorry man, I didn't mean any foul... They stink is all. You'll see

Absolutely! By the time you finish skinning a coyote or fox eating it will be the last thing you want! I shot a fox two winter's ago just before the end of the season. The shot cut in half almost, lengthwise and the stink from blowing to hell the gland that carries the musk was so bad you could not get near it to pick it up. This past fall I shot a yote while out scouting for geese and the shot was perfect, no exit wound, nice small entry hole and still the little bugger had a pretty offensive odor. I have only shot a few coyotes but in my experiences they smell of urine usually? Anybody else find the same thing? I have shot alot of foxes and they usually are not bad, but when mating season is getting close I leave them be......they can be real "skunky" smelling.

Thank you all for your insight. It will feel unnatural to leave a carcass in the wild, but as long as killing for other than meat doesnt upset the balance, i guess i wont feel guilty about it. Im sorry if this seemed like a stupid question for some of you. We dont know what we dont know right? :) Thanks for your patience and instruction.
