Free shipping on ammo?

They changed it recently. They say free shipping doesn't apply to hazardous goods now. But it seems like they have a pretty low flat rate they apply. I just bought 4 cases of shotgun shells, and the shipping was 15 bucks. It was $15 for 1 case or 4 cases. $15 split over a bunch of ammo is not bad.

Last few times I tried checking out with ammo the free shipping did NOT apply.
Seems to be a relatively new thing.

not wanting to pay shipping on 5lbs of ammo seems wild. Most sites offer free shipping on ammo after you cross a threshold $ amount. Buy 500 rounds of 22lr and 10-15 boxes of whatever hunting ammo you need. You would be over the minimum amount and wont have to buy ammo again ever for that hunting rifle.
We always buy bulk and have never paid for shipping.

Last Winter I bought 4-bricks of 22LR of an 'unavailable elsewhere' brand from a QC sponsor/vendor and had to pay ca $56 for 17# pkg ! ! so it can be a big deal. Raised cost-per-round by .03.
I generally use Tenda because they have the best selection of various cals - it IS easy to meet the $300 min with 2-3 bricks of 22 or a few boxes of 'high cal'.
