Gentlemen,
A rare find and ultra, ultra rare find brand new.
Never been shot, as a matter of fact, I had to have the frizzen cemented.
Tried sunday....a real pleasure with 20 grains FFG.2024-06-23.jpg

Cementation in the Oxford English Dictionnary:

METALLURGY:
A process of altering a metal by heating it in contact with a powdered solid, especially a former method of making steel by heating iron in contact with charcoal.

So it is to make it sparks. For security purpose newly made guns were delivered to the Gendarmerie Armory which themself hardened the firizzen to spark.

Very nice pistol Dan!

Hardened face? Caliber, accuracy? Why am I even posting?
Hello,
Caliber 15,2mm (.60).
Horrible accuracy since these pistols were meant to be used at short distance and dont have any sight.
The trigger is awfully hard.
I got some info from friends of a french black powder forum ....this was the norm of the day.
These pistols were carried by pair and even two pairs by the "gendarme".
Thanks 8Ball for the explanation.

Now " Why am I even posting ?"....not sure I understand your question.
