Anyone have any idea on the value of this French mine sweeper? Appears to be matching serials on box on sweeper.

What is shown is a mine detector. The title had me expecting a French vessel, like Vulcain below, a minesweeper.

On a related note, in November 1918, two French minesweepers, Inkerman and Cerisoles went to the bottom of Lake Superior. Accompanying those two vessels on the voyage was a third French minesweeper, Sebastopol. It was fortunate to have made it to Sault Ste Marie.

My bad, mine detector! Any idea on value would be great. Found it at an estate sale, guy wants $140 for it, but I know nothing about these.

I think the SRC-625 was the American mine detector and the model E ones seem to be French issued

I would bet that SRC-625 was made during WW2 then refurbed at some point post war by the French. You know there was models A thru E. What made the E set French ?

No idea just all the E sets ive seen online seem to have French tags on the box and detector

I’m very tempted to buy it but don’t want to find out its worth $70 after the fact

A store close to me is selling one for $400

Take a look in the manual to see what battery it takes,if it is a high voltage one it still has vacuum tubes, a low voltage one means it was converted to more modern electronics.

Even a tube operated one would be no deterrent for me,have built a lot of HV battery packs for my old manpack and handheld radios, love that old tube equipment

After WWII the French needed a lot of electronic equipment for their forces in North Africa and of course Indo China.
They must have struck a deal with the US to build all that equipment under licence,I have for instance a French BC1000,the first FM manpack radio and a couple of BC611 handheld walkie talkies built in 1958.
Their built was equally as good or maybe better than the US equipment, and of course being built so many years after the war the components were most likely of better quality.
Buying one of these mine detectors would only be advisable if your an electronic hobbyist, who knows what problems you run into after you have built a battery pack for it,btw the HV battery pack is a BA38,also used in the BC611 handy talkie, easy to built from 10 9v batteries in series.
The battery for the heaters is only a couple of D cell batteries.
