Well, I ordered 4 pounds of Accurate 5744 for my .308 reloading for the nice price of $21.99 per pound plus shipping + tax. Delivery right on time and what do I find inside but 4x14 oz. Hodgdon Clays :(

Check the website and here is what's listed on the Accurate page for XMP5744:

XMP5744.jpg

ACCURATE SMOKELESS POWDERS RIFLE · Type - XMP-5744 • Description - 1 lb. Mfr. # Clays · 82595 $21.99

Freaking amateurs...wonder how they'll make this right...I think letting me keep the Clays and then sending the stuff I actually ordered at no further charge would be the correct thing.

Same thing just happened to me with Trail Boss gunpowder

The guy started to argue with me till i got him to look in the catalog and see they got Trail boss showing but its # is for Magnum Rifle powder so its compleatly wrong and everyone ordering it would get the WRONG POWDER.

They let me return it and credited me then shipped the correct Powder i hope as i aint gone to pic it up yet.

but that catalog is some f**ked up

I had the same experience trying to figure out their codes for Remington 870 barrels, I wanted the 20 inch with rem choke and rifled sights, I had to call them and get them to physically go back there and check, luckily he sorted it out for me, I would reccommend calling them to decipher their damned catalog, either print or the online one is screwed up.

I just ordered some thing from them, I noticed that the 225gr hornady interbonds were not the right price in the book they were 38.99 well there were 57.99! Actually nothing I order there was the price it was supposed to be:mad:

What's worse, I work in customer care and I am shocked to find out they don't have an email customer care department. In this day and age, and for a big retailer like them. They're kind of walking around with their pecker out the fly with regards to their business practices. Talk about out to fing lunch.

Thats unfortunately the problem in Canada, compared to US businesses, Canadian customer service is back in the 11th century. It appears to be part of the business culture in Canada for some reason.

....I ordered a firearms and they sent it to the wrong adress....

At the end of September I order a rifle from them and it took 6 weeks before I got it.

First it took them 4 weeks to figure out how to get it from their Edmonton store to their mail order division in Calgary (with about 10 calls and some coaching from me)....at one point I got so frustrated, I offered to drive to Edmonton...take to their Calgary location so they could mail it to me....it would have gotten to me sooner.

When the rifle finally got to Calgary; they then sent it to my old address (as it turns out in their computer system our current address is the customer address and that is correct; however, they have our old address as the shipping address....so guess what...they sent it to my old address and then Canada Post sent it back to Calgary). After waiting a week or so and wondering what the hell was going on, I called the Calgary mail order phone number and the "girl" who answered just giggled after she admitted they mailed it to the wrong place. A week after that, I finally got the rifle.

What a frustrating process...and about 15 polite phone calls to try and help them figure out how to do their jobs.....

All in it took 6 weeks from the order date to final delivery....

Gunsmoke...

I just ordered some 9,3x62 RCBS dies form them which usually run $60 plus. Buddy didn't have them in stock but said Lethbridge has them and they'd bring them up and then mail them to me. I asked the price and he said $36.99 for the dies! I couldn't believe my ears and had him double check and he reconfirmed the price. I am not one to look a gift horse in the mouth and quickly said sold!:dancingbanana: I guess this is one of the few instances where it might work in the customers favor, we'll see. Maybe I'll end up getting a collar for a hunting dog.  .

Anyone need some dies, call them up as they are getting three more sets of 9,3x62 in real soon, all listed at that price!:runaway:

It's kinda of a toss up though, isn't it. Too bad that you live so far away that you have to mail order. But then again, living in the big city is not such a good option is it then? :dancingbanana:

Good point - but I particularly wanted Accurate powder and Higginsons doesn't stock it.

I live in a city of about 350,000 (regionally). There are options, but the price of mail-ordering powder is about $30 a pound, special shipping and tax included. To buy locally is about $45 a pound after tax :(

pontcanna: you live in Victoria, OK...I give, Victoria doesn't count, it's the most beautiful city in the whole frickin' world.

mmmm. I hate Wholesale. It's a pet peeve of mine that I nurture. Still, I'm in there all the time, usually for small stuff that I don't want to wait for in the mail. I really should learn though - about 50% of the time - even for small stuff like patches, solvent and brushes - they're out of the one I need.

And if it's something that they keep behind the counter, I usually don't bother. I'm not taking a frickin number and waiting in line (cause there's ALWAYS a line) for a $2 box of primers, or $5 sling studs, or to get a $3 shell holder out of the glass lock up case. And I love it when you DO wait in line for a half-hour, only to find out that they have NONE of the 4 powders on your list, no primers of the brand and size you want, and only one of the 3 boxes of bullets you need. It's a really special feeling.

For the extra 10%, I'll go to P&D, or mail order it. +1 for Higginsons. I've spent several $k there last year. They always have the powder I'm after, and I've never found a size of Hornady bullets that they don't have in stock. Plus, if you buy 21lbs of powder (~$400) or more, shipping is free

It gets better. I phone them first thing this morning and get a VERY young sounding female on the other end...chirpy, but utterly clueless. "The wrong powder?". I gave her the product number and various references on the website - "we don't have internet access here" (for orders made on their own F'ing website???). She goes off for a moment to talk to a "supervisor" and then checks the printed catalogue..."oh, it's the wrong product number in there too - giggle". Finally she gives me an account number to send the powder back to them for eventual refund on my credit card. "Would you like us to send the product you wanted?" "Uh, could you check the price for me first? It's supposed to be $21.99 a pound." "Oh, no, it's $29.99 a pound.". "So you're saying that everything on the website is wrong and you won't honour the price?" "Well, send us a note in the box explaining where the website is wrong and we'll fix it.".

Thanks for nothing. A total of 50+ km on icy roads to pick up and then take the powder back to DHL, might get a credit card refund in the New Year ("we're busy right now with the Xmas season and returns") - NO SH*T!

Never again. Guess I'm back to the land of $40+ rifle powder.

They don't seem to get any better in Winnipeg. Last summer I went into the new store and bought 5 bottles of H-4350and 5 bottles of Varget. The guy says, "Hey, you don't care if it's in an IMR box do you?" I say it doesn't matter as long as I get H-4350. He brings me the box all nicely taped up, so of coarse I don't check it till I get home. Yup, you guessed it, I bought 5 pounds of Varget and 5 pounds of IMR-4350.

Tried the on line order thing to get some extended shell holders and a RCBS base plate. They had one shell holder in stock.

So i go to town to DHL and
*OH the driver decided to take the powder over* WTF thanks that cost me $15 for a ferry ticket for nothing.
Then its the WRONG powder.
So DHL come and Pick it up off the island and take it on the ferry to return it. send it back to f**kupsale sports!
Now DHL have phoned me and say We got another package and wont Bring it over on the ferry You have come and pick it up
Theres 1 ft of snow on the sidwalks in CR so its gona sit at DHL till Monday.
No more dangerous cargo stuff for me.
I woulda bought the Trail boss local of our guy here but he couldnt get it.

Wholesale Follies

Update: The guy in charge @ Wholesale leaves a lot to be desired. Talked with a nice guy named Connor who is going to have DHL pick up the powder here next Wednesday (so that I won't have to drive it in). He was willing to ship the new items without adding a second shipping charge (well, duh...but to his manager, that was a huge deal already!), but they would charge $8/ea more.

Connor tried to talk to his manager about honouring the price on the invoice, and got nowhere. Then through to the manager...The manager was on and on about the web people in California who just scanned their catalogue into the website without looking for an errors first (well, again, duh...they were YOUR errors to point out to the web design people!!!) and how he can't give me the $32 because he's already "eating" $60 in shipping charges. Pointed out to him that was only because they shipped the wrong item. He was having none of it...that manager guy (I have the feeling he runs the whole store...and isn't a shipping manager, but THE manager) is too much...

Connor just called back and the boss is NOW trying to have him tell me to take the package to Loomis myself :( I told Connor I couldn't do that, and he again said he'd try to arrange for pickup but that he'd have to call me back...
