Well last night I went to my shooting club and walked in and saw a Ruger SR1911 sitting in the showcase. I had deposits on two of them at Dante in Montreal since June 30th. Low and behold here was one available right then and there. I asked the price and of course it was a little inflated at $799. I was about to pull the trigger on it anyway but when I handled it, I found it extremely loose compared to my other 1911s. In fact it sounded like a can of bolts when I shook it! I was quite disappointed. Today after work, I went to Dante (I work right around the corner ) with the intention of canceling my order and buying something else such as another Sig 1911 or possibly a SW1911 E. Well I was told that they got 10 of the SR1911s this morning! So after telling Rudy that I was disappointed with the one I saw the night before, he told me I could take my pick of the 10. So that is what I did! There were some that were tighter than others but out of the ten , I found 2 that were tight "as a duck's ass" as they put it. It was really cool being able to choose from 10 guns. I am really happy with the 2 I landed up with. There were a couple that were rattle cans like the one I had seen last night and the rest would have been acceptable but I lucked out and got 2 that the slide to frame fit was noticeably better than the rest. I waited all of 2 weeks only had to wait 2 weeks to get them. Incidentally, for anyone that's looking for one in Montreal, there are 3 that are not spoken for and the price is right at $677. They may even let you choose your favorite out of the bunch!
