Hey SKS45 Lovers... I took my new Tula 1950r to the range today and finished cleaning the cosmo out of the rifle, und wiped it down and put it back to gether.... And fired off my first 5 vollys off and all hit target @ about 125m's ...

Check this....

Needless to say I was impressed.....

Im impressed... My chinese gets 8 inch groups @ 100 yds. Yours seems to shoot tighter at 125 meters.:D

Actually Im not impressed at all.

My chinese sks will find a nice place at the bottom of a lake, unless someone offers me 10 bucks for it:)

Was it Milsurp ammo?.

Yuppers its milsurp ammo. I bought a case of chekz 7.62x39, alot of cleaning going to be done.... V:I:

Just cleaned my new (to me ) sks 2 days ago ,going to the range sunday for safety orientation and hopefully fire that badboy, hope I can group them that well first time out. Nice shootin , think I will try 100 yds first, or maybe 10 feet;0)!R:d:

My 1952 Tula refurb doesn't group that tight, however I was able to consistently nail the steel targets at 200, and 300 yards. I did have to bring the front sight up two turns with a homemade tool, as I lacked the patience to order one.

sooo.... here is a real project.... just got a chu-barreled receiver... now to rebuild it to actually shoot... yeah, I will NEVER get a return on all the $$$ lay out (do you ever with an SKS?) but the challenge will be to make it a shooter. Bore is pristine, and I have a really good fitting chu-wood stock already. Worst case is I can dewat it for display and not feel one bit guilty about it!

Will have all the parts you need to get your barreled reciever to the firing line. As to increasing it repeatability and there for optimunsing it's accuracy try doing these 3 things.
  1. Do a trigger job.
  2. Get an gas tube and piston that is supper snug to fit. As a matter of fact make sure all external part's are as snug as possible & get rid of all the stuff that rattles. E.G. Bayonet, cleaning rod, cleaning kit, sling loops, ect.
  3. Bed the rifle to the stock. I prefer the Nam fiberglass ones from SkS Man dot com.
Most importantly...
Post pic's of your rifles journey from start to finish as a lot of CGNer's like me can use it as a thread referance on how to SkS for future new members.

I'm pretty happy with these groups. I think I can tighten them up a bit with some bedding and a muzzle break. My stock is very loose.
