Hi I'm looking for advice on a Frommer Stop .
I haven't seen one for sale in Canada and I'm not sure if it is restricted or prohibited.
If anyone who own one can chime in on this issue , also if anyone has one that they would like to give away or sell I'll be interested .
Thanks
Ray

There are at least a handful of regular Frommer Stop pistols in Canada and at least 1 "baby" Frommer, they are all prohibited based on barrel length and most are also prohibited due to caliber (7.65/.32ACP)
The only way you can get your hands on an original/unmodified pistol will be if you hold a 12(6) certification on your PAL or someone in your direct family does and can pass it to you via 12(7)

If your pockets are deep, there was a fellow selling a Frommer carbine here a little while back. Way too rich for me. But I sure would have loved to add it to the collection. Not sure If its still listed.

I haven't seen it . but if you come about some old Hungarian stuff let me know. But I don't have the 12\6 , so I'm limited on what can I get .

In autoloaders I can only think of two off the top of my head that aren't 12.6. The 1907 Roth Styer, which is really an interesting gun. It is in 8mm Roth Styer caliber, which Canada Ammo sells amazingly enough. The guns are a bit rare though, you rarely see them for sale. And generally pricey, usually around $1000 depending on condition.

The second would be the 1912 Styer Hahn. It's not rare to see these for sale periodically. They are chambered in 9mm Styer, which is a reloader only thing as far as i know. The brass is available though, and it uses standard 9mm bullets, and is loaded with regular 9 x 19 dies. These generally run about $500.

Forgotton Weapons and C&Rsenal both have excellent youtube vids of these.

I missed out on a Frommer-Stop 7.65 in reasonable shape on consignment for a not bad price at Pro-Line in Calgary a couple of years ago. Fairly ugly and certainly an odd design, but very appealing.
I stupidly went home to google it (no cell phone with me) and when I got back into Calgary a couple of days later, it was spoken for.
I've been kicking myself since.

HEY !!! Be careful with your words ! You called " ugly and odd " I see it as unusual and unique , it's definitely one of a kind . I don't remember seeing anything else with a recoiling barrel unless it's a canon . For me it's childhood memories . My grandfather had one hidden from the Russians back in Hungary , we never shot it . he's other gun a sxs 12 guage Frommer 29 Minta was he's hunting gun , I found one in good condition in Ontario , last version 3" magnum made by FÉG in the 1970s

Yes, the long recoil system is pretty cool. Heck of a lot more complicated than 7.65 ever needed, but quite elegant. And the machining in them is really beautiful to boot.

Years ago I had one on consignment, interesting gun, though I never shot it.
I can't remember what the price was on it. It was about 50% condition , finish wise, machining was top notch.
