I was trying to decide what looks brighter on the front sight green or red for outdoor IPSC shooting, would like to have some technical answers if possible?

This is my own opinion and preference, others will differ from my observation. Really, it will be up to what works well for you.

I prefer Red fiber optic front sight insert. Visible indoor and really visible outdoor be it sunny or cloudy day. :)
I don't like the green fiber optic sight especially shooting under the sun. The green color does not give me the front sight fiber optic visibility I get from red outdoor IMHO.

have you ever went to an optometrist

he is doing a test in the dark with a red green color light over some letters on the wall

then he asks you ....what color is more bright between the 2

the color that is more bright for you should be the color of the fiber optic

buy the 2 color and play with it ....it<s not really expensive

for my part i find green to be more bright indoor and outdoors

I shot a match outdoors and tried a green FO for the first time on a borrowed gun. The range had very green grass and foliage. At least for my crappy eyes, the green FO front sight disappeared. I could hardly make it out against all the other green stuff. I am beginning to like red a lot better.

Thanks for your input and that's a good idea the optometrist never occurred to me,and I know my old eyes are not up to par anymore that's probably why I can't tell the difference but red looks a little brighter to me.

I am sure the responses will vary equally, for me I have combined the 2!
in the rear i have green, in the front I have red!!! I find this a great
contrast/compromise! fwiw

In color theory, warm colors (like red) advance...or draw the eye...and cool colors (like green) recede. A warm color for a fiber optic will be more rapidly "seeable" than a cool color, and will be generally easier to track.

hi guys,

where can i buy those red fiber optic rod for replacement. i've been looking around here in Vancouver area and can't find some. need some info.
thanks.

I had a quick look through the sponsored links, and couldn't find anyone that advertises fiber optic sights. I'm looking for red and green front fiber optic for a glock 17/34. Any ideas for Cdn suppliers?

I ordered dawson sights for my glock 22 and had the shipped to point roberts washington. I just went down and picked them up. There is a mail service there that you can use there address for a fee.
