Hi everyone,

I've got a few questions for all of you front rest experts.

- Windage adjustments, or no windage adjustments on a front rest? Would a non windage rest be more stable and result in tighter groups?
- How does the Caldwell Rock BR stack up to the Sinclair Gen II windage rests?
- Is there another rest in the lower price range (i.e. Rock BR - Sinclair Gen II price range) that you can recommend?

Thanks,
Cal.

You'll definately want the windage ajustment. Have any decent machining skills and a slab of aluminum? Build yourself a base or buy something cheap and get a shadetree coax top.

Front rest vs bipods

For me unless you have a wide benchrest stock. I can shoot smaller groups with The Remple or Star shooter bi-pods the stop the twisting the rifle does.

Unfortunately I don't have any machining skill, nor room to do any such work. Apartment life doesn't allow for such luxuries.

I do have a few sporter stocked rifles, but am thinking about picking up my first BR stocked rifle. To that end I was mainly looking at front rests as opposed to bipods.

Does anyone have any experience with the Rock BR, or is it a POS that I shouldn't even consider? I'm hoping to find something halfway good for not too much money.

Thanks,
Cal.

I used the Rock BR for years while in F open. Worked very well for me. Replaced with a protektor front bag as the included one is garbage.

The old gen windage tops were crap so I drilled and bolted mine together. The new ones have had positive feedback - likely this means, just fine for range work and varminting. Still don't think it is ideal for competition dialing so you can just swap in a top tier top.

I don't use the windage top prefering to adjust with the rear bag so it was never a concern for my application.
