Front sight adjustment on my 91/30

Hey guys,

My mosin shoots about 8" left (but the elevation is good! ) so I need to hammer my front sight over a bit.

Problem is, it won't budge... literally if I bang any harder it's going to break something.

Any tips?

Are you supporting the sight/ barrel when your using the mighty hammer? Makes a big difference in directing the hammer energy

I have not shot mine yet but i understand that they shoot high as well. I read that one person took #12 wire and stripped the insulation off and then placed the insulation onto the front sight post thus extending it higher which makes the gun shoot lower. But back to your windage, just do as suggested earlier and support the sight block on something solid. Perhaps another pair of hands may help to hold things steady.

I used my SKS sight pusher. Took a bit of fiddling to get it to engage.

Make sure the barrel is on something solid when you try to drift it over. I often use a drop of penetrating oil and make sure its movable before i go to the range. Many of these old rifles have the dovetail seized in place for many decades. If you can get it to move before you head out, you will save a lot of hassle while on the shooting bench.
