I was on the hunt for a Savage 99 in 250-300 to use as a shooter. I acquired a 99 takedown in excellent condition. No cracks in either stock and excellent bluing. It is missing the rear sight but has a Lymen tang sight. The problem is the front sight is also invisible to my older eyes. It is in a slot on the barrel instead of a dovetail. Does anyone know if replacement blades are available for this Sight? I probably have to drill out the aperture also but am reluctant to do much to this rifle to alter it's originality.

You'll probably have to hit the gun shows, not sure where you live but there's a guy from northern Alberta who shows up at most of the western gun shows with lots of sights and other parts.
I've bought sights of eBay before as well.
