Front Site on Ruger 10/22

I want to change the front iron site on my 10/22 but it sure doesn't want to move. To my experience, dovetails usually exit left, when tapered. Does anyone know if the 10/22 differs? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

It's a plain dovetail in my experience. It should come out in either direction.

I just looked at mine and it should go out either direction. As a side note I lent mine to a friend and some how he returned it minus the front sight so if you are willing to part with the sight pm a price thanks. Rob

Dovetail sights virtually always go in from the right to left and out from left to right.
