Hi all
Just got a synthetic stock to replace the Chu wood stock on my 305S Norinco.I am wondering what type of rivets I should use to reattach the front sling swivel...?
Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks!

Drill the old rivets, install on the new stock and use a large center punch to expand the old rivets, I used the original rivets on my Boyds and USGI stocks.

I also use machine screws and nuts, short ones, 10x32 x 1/2" i think they are
nuts get epoxy bedded inside.
here's how i do mine
lightly grease the screw only and do not grease on the outside of the nut. install the screws and nuts and then use an epoxy putty to cover the nuts. the lightly greased screws will remain removeable. or skip the grease for a permanent mount.
then install your action and be sure the oprod/gas assembly are properly clearanced from the nuts/epoxy.

or mess around with rivets hehehe

Got screws and nuts for you. Both sizes for thinner USGI stocks and/ or fatter NM profiled stocks. PM me... No sweat. I got yer backs ;)

Cheers,
Barney

I used the screws from my kid's hockey helmet repair kit. There are two different lengths and I used the long ones.

The lugs on the bottom of the nut will seat into the wood and keep it from turning while you tighten the screw and it sits below the channel. When I'm done fitting the stock I will be bedding the nuts in place.

The bottom of the nut stick through the stock enough to fit in the rivet hole in the sling plate and is a snug enough fit to prevent the plate from moving.

The screws sit a bit proud of the nut and I will file them down a bit to make sure they sit below the wood. I will not be epoxying the screws in place in case need to remove the swivel for some reason in the future.
