Can anybody suggest how should I adjust the front sight on LE No. 4 Mk. 1 and what tool I should use for it? And what do I use to unscrew that weird bolt at the front of the sight?

Hi albog,

I took an old screwdriver, cut off the tip, and used a dremel tool with cut-off disk to grind a slot at the tip. That tool is now perfect to loosen the "weird bolt" on the front sight base.

Once that's loose, you can drift the front sight blade from side to side.

If elevation isn't right, you need to change the front sight blade to a taller or shorter one.

Thanks, Lou, appreciate this. I guess now I have to learn what is a dremel tool, where do I get it and how it works.... Everybody was always saying I've got two left hands.

BTW, where do I get replacement blades for the front sight?

A hacksaw could do it I suppose, but a Dremel (most famous brand, really it's called a high-speed rotary tool I think) makes the job easier.

A few folks on Gunnutz may have spare front blades of different height, some of the sponsers most likely too.

Marstar is listing sight blades at $5 each. No mention of the height though.
Forget the rotary tool. Any grinding wheel will do. So will a file. Files are harder than screw driver blades.
