Frontier/Marstar copper plated bullets, any experience?

I used the 115gr 9mm bullets, and would be happy to use them again. So far I've not heard any complaints, just praise.

i have used the 110 gr for my m1 carbine and they work good, the weights are a bit on the off side but for the money they are good to use.

I've been using them for 2 years now, shot about 25K of those in .45 230grs RN. With a carefully assembled load, they can shoot better than I can and are perfectly suited for my needs (IPSC).

However, In a box of 500, at least 5 or 6 bullets have significant defects that make them unshootable. Also, 1 box over 20 (in my experience) comes with badly corroded bullets (lots of green copper oxide on the bullets). Also, most of those bullets aren't 100% clean and shiny (I'm quite picky about bullet cleaningness (sp?)) so I tumble the bullets for 30 minutes before loading them.

I've been using them in .44 Magnum too, but I'm about to drop them. The cannelure in the bullet is small, shallow and sometimes completly misplaced, so roll crimping is difficult at times.

I have considered getting some of these for making plinking loads for my Lee Enfield rifles. Do you load using jacketed or cast load data (starting loads obviously) when working with plated bullets?

Have a look at West Coast (now "X-Treme") sold through Canadian BDX. The best of the plated bunch.

(edit: sorry to all who might have read what I originally wrote... Excel is, IMHO, the worst of the lot rather than the best).
