Frosty Bore? What does that mean?

I saw a M1 Garand for sale for $450. Good wood but frosty bore. What does this mean? Frosty Bore? Can it still be shot? How much would this effect accuracy? How hard would it be to get a new barrel? I am kinda keeping my eyes open for a shooter. Just needs to work every time I pull the trigger :D . Any advise? Thanks

If you're talking about the one at Shooters I've had this "frosty" discussion with them before. Basically its slightly pitted, and has lost some/most of its bluing...Still for $450 it might be worth a drive

Well i guess i'm not the only one thats run into that term before. there was a
barrel on ebay a few weeks ago w/ that description. I was wondering what that was supposed to mean.

And to answer the question on how hard to get a new barrel..........very.

I bought a sporterized M96 from Jason Spencer and he said the bore is
frosty.

What that means, if you shine a flashlight in the chamber you should
see white-grey colour not a shiny steel colour.

Doesn't seem to affect the accuracy of my rifle.

frosty bore

frosty bore usually means that the bore is no longer mirror smooth. It may be very slightly to badly pitted, usually also means a fouler as well. It's a politically correct term for a pitted bore plain and simple. The degree of pitting should be stated outright not flossed over. If the seller won't give you a good description of the pitting, pass on the purchase. bearhunter:) :(
