does anyone know how long a frozen turkey will keep in the freezer? It is store bought and in a regular type freezer bag. In fact there are about 4 of them and they have been there for a number of years. My middle son gets them at Christmas time from his work place and he puts them in our freezer and forgets about them. I was thinking about making turkey jerky. Would they still be good, ya think? The oldest one may have been there for 5 years by now. Hopefully they are not just yote bait.

sure get them out and let them thaw .you will know rihght away if something is wrong .as long as your freezer has been running with no problem it should be fine D

Typically frozen birds from the grocery store are good for two years (because many of them have salt and spices injected into them for more flavour) before they are taken off the shelf. I have eaten a three year old butter ball and it tasted amazing like it was killed yesterday (actually ate it last week), check for freezer burn if it wasn't in a vacume sealed bag.

I had one in the freezer for about 3 years before I used it once. It was no different than the ones we bought frozen a couple days before cooking.

Freezer burn isn't the issue, it's the fat going rancid. Although freezing slows the process down, it doesn't stop it. I wouldn't eat a 2 year old bird.
