When I called ATRS they said the couldn't do it for me because they had no way of properly lining up the FSB, Barrel, and Gas Port. I thought this was ridiculous for a company who builds their own ARs. Don't get me wrong I still do business with them because they're one of the best Cerakoters around, customer service is perfect maybe I just got one bad employee. So I went with Dlask instead. Background of the situation I bought a 14.5" m4 profile Daniel Defense barrel for my Daniel Defense m4v2 with a 16" barrel. I had the original barrel removed and the new one installed. But when the company installed my new barrel they left the original FSB on the original barrel and put a new FSB on my new barrel by clamping it on. I wanted it to look factory original so I asked ATRS if they could "Marry" my old FSB to my new barrel. Thats when they told me that they couldn't line up the gas ports.
You really should have someone do it on a proper jig.....I have done it jury ringing my milling machine but it takes far longer
It is NOT a DIY job on a drill press.
Drilling and then reaming the 2/0 taper pin hole is best done with a proper milling machine. If FSB is pre drilled its best to flatten out bottom of hole ( on radius of the barrel with 1/8" end mill ) prior to drilling
Installing a FSB is everything but an easy DIY job. The average canadian gunsmith has absolutely no clue how to work on an AR, let alone properly align and install a FSB. Leave this job to someone with the right tools and experience.
