Hi Guys,
So.... it took me long enough but I finally got her out to the range. For those who didn't see my other pics, this is the set up I had.
I had to sight the Bushnell Trs-25 on the NEA rail so I started at 50 yards. I shot in three bunches on the targets below. I began aiming at the top left circle and was hitting directly below it. I then adjusted and POA and POI were the same. So, that means I was aiming and hitting the top left circle. Then, I just stood and did some free hand shots on the bottom right circle.
A pic of the bottom left circle (I was aiming for the circle above it).
A pic of the top left circle. Sight adjusted so I was aiming and hitting the right spot.
A pic of the free hand shots. (Not too good, but I haven't shot in a while and lost some muscle memory)
After that, we shot at the 200 yard gong for a while. I had to reduce the brightness on the sight to get it as small as possible and then adjust for windage etc. I wasn't too on point today but my friend was. He was hitting the gong repeatedly.
The muzzle flash on the rifle was no problem at all. I rarely noticed it. You would get a good fireball now and again though. Here is a video of the muzzle.

Overall, I didn't notice any loss of accuracy at such short distances. Next time I will take my 858 with the same setup (I have another TRS but I still need to buy another NEA rail) and see how they compare.
There were some downfalls to the day. The ak handguard I modded became extremely loose and I am sure it made the rifle less accurate. I made a thread about it and mentioned it had minimal play. That changed big time with shooting. The two pieces, bracket and hand guard were not attached in anyway. I am now thinking about how I can attach them together. I wonder what the strongest compound would be for beaver barf and wood. Epoxy or JB weld? Let me know if you guys have suggestions. Also, I did have a few failures to eject. I can't remember how many exactly.
The upside was really the NEA Rail and the Bushnell. The sight is excellent. I knew it was good before from stevo and other members reviews but I found out for myself today. I got excited and bought enough to furnish a few rifles.
Lastly, the set screw on the brake jarred itself loose after all the rounds we shot, I would say around 200 rounds or so. I took a pic because a member asked me for it before.
A brake that fit over the barrel would compliment this rifle a lot and make it seem even shorter. I don't know if anyone makes a krink brake in that format but it would be killer. On another note, the finish on these rifles is quite flimsy. The front sling attachment area wore away the finish. It is scratched up now but it looks like the bare metal is showing. The rifle is obviously just for blasting on the range but if this thing was taken through the bush for a few days it sure would show it. The blue paint on the 858's is ugly but it sure is durable compared to the bluing on these.
