In my last competition and now at the range now I'm getting increasing FTF on the first or second round in the magazine after a reload (see pic). The round just doesn't go into battery but will with a nudge. I've tried this with all my magazines and eliminated them as a problem. And using same factory ammo (Remington UMC 115gr 9mm). I tried changing out the EDIT: mean the recoil spring to a stronger one but it doesn't seem to make a difference (in fact the problem seems worse). After seven or so magazines the problem seemed to have worked itself out, though.

A friend told me that I may have to replace the extractor spring. Where do I get one in Canada? Maybe it is getting tired.

One of the ROs also thought the factory ammo was not crimped properly, but then I've been using the same ammo for the past two years.

Check to see that inside of the extractor is clean,if necessary, remove the extractor and give it a good clean.Ive had that type of malfunction when Ive replaced the extractor spring with a new Woolf spring, these have a bit more tension than the factory spring and can cause this, however seems as if this is with the factory spring still in.A tired extractor spring likely wont cause this.

Other things to consider are burr on the firing pin hole, high primer, not enough taper crimp, dirty chamber, weak recoil spring needing replacement.Try a different manufacture of ammo, its also helpful to see whether the ammo you are using drop into the chamber easily with the barrel out the gun.Give the gun a good lube and clean as well.

whyd you change the main spring?

when was the last time you cleaned it? lubed it?

how old is the recoil spring? Have you tried different ammunition?

When i had this issue, the OAL on my rounds were too long for the CZ, whats the OAL on your ammunition?

Thanks all.

EDIT: sorry I meant the recoil spring. I changed it out because, again, I thought it was becoming tired, but it seems I needn't have. So it was new when the problem was still continuing. I clean and lube it regularly, almost after each shoot (a bit of a fetish, I admit).

As for the ammunition, it is just factory stuff and the same brand I've always shot. Maybe it is a bad batch as the ROs did mention the crimping seemed bad. I will probably switch just to see as that is the easiest solution first. I will check the OAL of the ammo. It was Remington 115gr UMC.

I had that problem when my recoil spring got worn out, I was running an 11 pound spring and would only get around 2000 rounds before it needed replacing.Depending on when you last cleaned and lubed, and what weight of recoil spring you are using I would suggest firstly a good cleaning and lube including removing the ejector then try a new recoil spring. Maybe going slightly heavier with the recoil spring if it is not factory.
You can get recoil springs and all parts sent from CZ custom in the US. Watch out though there shipping price is high.
