Hi all, new around here and just picked up a T97 Gen 2. Had it out at the range and of 50 rounds it only cycled twice, everything else was a jam. That was using the stock magazine. Then I tried a bunch more with CPD steel LAR-15 mags and no luck. With either magazine type it didn't matter if there were 2, 5 or 10 rounds, it would chamber the first round and then jammo. Tried a couple types of ammunition.

Obviously read lots about gen 1 issues but haven't seen much about feeding problems with the gen 2. Here are a few photos that show what's going on (sort of). Appreciate ideas on what could be causing the problem, feeding ramp, mag well depth/seating?

Hummm... yours actually looks exactly like mine but mine has gone through over 2500 rds without a single issue.

Have you tried diff mags? Ammo? How's the feeding is like if you use dummy rounds? You can try polishing the feed ramp but I would suggest try out diff mags and ammo. Did you smack the mag when you load your mag? I know my T97 doesn't like that at all. so I just insert and pull a little make sure it clicks.

Tried the original and CPD steel LAR mags. Tried a couple kinds of ammo. Tried a number of different things with inserting the mag.

I also realized the 14###### had more issues with rounds diving and ramp issues. What year is your gun? 15 or 16?

The T97 has been a strange rifle for me since I got it. When I first purchased it, it ran flawlessly. Then about 6 months or so in, I started getting feed issues. Every other round would have issues, and the bullet would get mashed into the casing. It didn't matter what mags I used.

I sent it back to where I bought it for repair as it still fell under their store warranty. Got it back with the same mag, and no visible modifications to the feed ramp, and it's taken about 2000 rounds of various ammo types, steel and brass, without any issues at all. Not sure what they did to it, but I was happy.

This is a Gen 1.

Just got back from the range with a gen 1 T97. 50 rounds cycled flawlessly using same mags and ammo. Been in touch with the shop where I bought it, sounds like going back for replacement.

Hmm...I just got a T97 Gen 2 as well. The inspection date on the sheet is the same as yours (2017-02-24) so this makes me a little concerned.

I haven't gotten a chance to fire it yet, but even just trying to put a few different mags in it (LAR15, 10/5 MP Sport 2 mag, Mission First Polymer LAR mag), the fits were very inconsistent.

In fact, the only mags that actually went in without me having to jam it in were the stock mag, and the LAR15 mag. However, with the LAR15 mag in the gun, I couldn't even pull the charging handle all the way back to lock it open...which makes me think it's probably not going to work.

I will report back once I get a chance to shoot it this weekend but I am not optimistic. I thought they fixed all these mag issues in gen 2...

Are these the CPD steel LAR15 mags? I had to put mine in a vice to get them to fit the mag well on the gen 2, no problem pulling charging handle.

Yes, I'm talking about the steel CPD LAR15 mag. The one I have goes into the mag well no problem, and drops out easily when the mag release is pressed. The issue is that once the mag is in, I can only pull the charging handle partially back so clearly the LAR15 mag is obstructing it somehow. Maybe it's too deep in....but I guess I'll soon find out if this causes any feeding issues I shoot.

A lot of people reported that. Actually what happened to mine is that I bought 5 GSDesign LAR extension, installed them and took them to the range and each mag after 5 to 10 full mags shot they all starting to slowly drop free (the first time is always kinda hard). I never have to do anything else with them. Now all my CPD LAR15 mags (same ones that I use for my AR15) works on both guns.

If you want absolutely worry free plastic mags I would suggest Troy's battlemag. I have one because it came with the Troy PAR. This one fit and drop free no prob nothing like PMag or MFT or Tapco (I tried them all). However, it is only a 5 rds mag.

Just came back from the range where I shot ~50 rounds through my new T97 gen2.

Happy to report no issues at all! Both the stock mag and CPD steel LAR15 mag functioned perfectly.

So even though my particular LAR15 mag doesn't let you pull the charging handle all the back to lock it when the mag is empty, it appears to function fine when using live ammo (i.e. it locks open after last round is fired).

Good to hear. Are you able to pull the charging handle all the way back with no magazine and the safety on fire?

Yes. I can pull the charging handle all the way back on both settings of the safety with no mag.

Only time I can't pull the charging handle all the way back is when I have an empty CPD LAR15 mag in it.
