I have recently contacted Fierce for a quote on a 30’’ barrel FTR set up rifle in .308
A few guys around me told me I should of put this project in the hands of the chou brothers instead.

Anyone has either one in an FTR specific setup and would care to comment?
Thanks!

What are you looking to do.

Chou brother's
If you are looking for a full build you will have to look elsewhere. But if you are looking for chambering work you can find no better. They are world class shooters and know what it takes for ultimate accuracy and performance... slugging barrels, barrel orientation; the little things that add up to big wins. They are excellent guys. Too many names to mention have their rifles chambered by them

Fierce. I only know one guy that works (worked there not sure if he still does or not) didn't get to compete last year so didn't see him. Ralph Coghlan(sp) he competes in F open and knows what he is doing; but i can't vouch for Fierce as a whole haven't used their services.

Cheers
Trevor

The Chou brothers are awesome. Ralph Colgan is no longer working for Fierce. He also does awesome works on its own. Apparently, Fierce is no longer the « custom shop » they used to be, especially since Ralph left the company.

Hey Trevor? I heard the c brothers were not even chambering last couple years ?. What do you know about that ?.
Marc

I heard this as well. About three years I tried to commission the Chou Bros. to build my first F T/R rifle.

I couldn't get contact with them, so I got Joe P. at "R#S International" by Edmonton to build it for me.
He does awesome work... will probably get him to build my next one.

They still do a few of their long time customers work but I know they have referred lots to us over the last few years so I assume they aren't taking on new work

Wasn't there a thread on P o nto a few years back,
2013,14,or so?
There were a few bad reviews in there.

Even his last name can't be spelled correctly...lol

I don't know if there was -there might have been -I never looked.
I know that his name and his business name is blocked on CGN .... whether its his doing or CGN's doing the censorship is kind of silly.
Why its blocked -I don't know, I don't really care.

The guy probably will never win awards for his personality, but I am more than certain that he is a very fine and competent gunsmith.
I heard one of my cohorts refer to him as "Bi-Polar Joe," ...LMAO, and that certainly may be the case.
If he likes the cut of your jib, then he is a friend for life kinda guy. Every once in a while he will still send me text to see how the gun is performing (and how my skill is progressing).

He was always available to take my (many) calls & emails, always offered advice and basically held my hand on my first custom build.

I could see how some people that have dealt with him could give him a bad review as his personality can be a touch abrasive.

But since I too can be a bit of a miserable bastard, that is probably why we got along. LOL

Call Harley or Andy at Insite. They'll get you squared away. Their work isn't strictly limited to PRS or tactical rifles. They've built some national winning F-class rifles as well.

Definitely contact Ralph Colgan.

Chou’s don’t do as many jobs as before. Get a gunsmiths that play your game so he’ll understand your needs.
