FTR .308 Fierce vs Chou Bros

I just got my Action and Barrel chambered by Chou’s last weekend , 3 weeks turnaround, fast and the work is excellent, very nice guys to deal with . Send them an email , I sure they will respond, they stop doing cerakote also

Hey Trevor? I heard the c brothers were not even chambering last couple years ?. What do you know about that ?.
Marc

No full builds.
They would help out former customers with additional chambering jobs. F class team, etc...
Currently your best option is to contact them about getting work done.

Cheers
Trevor

If the Chou Brothers are not able to take on the work. I highly suggest Insite Arms Harley does a fantastic job with proven results

Did anyone mention Go Ballistic Gunsmithing in SK? Dennis does outstanding work.

x2 for Dennis...

He builds a majority of the F Class Rifles (T/R & Open) for the guys who compete in Saskatchewan and some of the guys from AB & MB who compete here as well.

Excellent gunsmith & competitor.... if I knew Dennis before I had my gun built, then I most likely would have went with him.
I'm thinking of having him build me a PRS gun next spring.

I site has done a couple of barrels for Brent in a 284 I think, not sure what else they have done

Note the op did not call me to discuss even though a pm was offered, I was on the Canadian development team a couple of years ago for the last worlds

has fierce built any winning rifles for team members or just sponsored some open guys, inquiring minds want to know

the ftr footprint is not difficult

3 or 4 action, choices, STOCKS are very important, almost anyone can chamber a barrel, there are at least 4 guys in alberta that do chamber jobs that would be mid pack of the Canadian team depending on who is shooting the rifle

quite a few offer recommendations without ever competing or winning

so, some of the choices given are not on my list of COMPLETE RILFE BUILDERS

the path is quite easy once you talk to the right people

OP did not call you back as I'm having a crazy time at work and have language barrier issues on the phone, I'm not english.
When typing I can take the time to correct and re-read myself.

Spoke with Andy at Insite, he has something very cool to propose to me, a rifle that's very appealing (for me) while staying true to my LR shooting roots.
If I go ahead I will post a pic after deposit.

Thanks again for taking to time to reach out

You'll be very happy just make sure Harley builds it on a Borden lol

It’s almost ready
Built with stock parts

McMillan Fclass stock (olive drab to top it off keeps my tactical side satisfied as a bonus)
Barnard P action

We are speaking of 30’’ heavy palma as the lightest possible profile, if weight allows maybe go a touch heavier, TBD

Awesome

30" Heavy Palma pretty standard for FTR even though I can use heavier I still use a 30" Heavy Palma

Once it's done and covid restrictions are lifted you'll have to come to New Brunswick for some matches

with all due respect to the purchaser and builder and hirsch precision

MOST would never build a FTR on a P action because of weight

also there are other and perhaps better stocks for a FTR

and finally let me very clear and very blunt

WEIGHT IS A ISSUE WITH ALL FTR BUILDS

HEAVIER BIPOD IN,THE FUTURE you can’t do it now with the choice of components

another poster was right build it on a Borden

oh well, hope you are happy

You speak very well in writing

Good luck with your build and we hope it shoots like a laser

Anyone can Chamber a barrel?.... really? You have unequivocally proven, "you don't know what you don't know." ....It is laughable. You have no concept of what goes on in chambering a barrel! Who is on your list of top shops that can chamber a barrel?..... and please explain what they do differently that sets them apart from their colleagues in regard to the set up and machining process? .... I guarantee you have no idea where to even begin.

You are offended because the OP didn't consult you? Who the F*** are you? .... oh?.. a back up, of a back up, for the National Team...or an "Advisor" ....yeah, that's everyone for any team that didn't make the cut and can't accept it.....and on the "development team".....of course they likely jump at the chance to get your advice.

The OP asked for a quality rifle that can compete in FTR. Sure, a Barnard action is heavier than a Borden but is that relevant in a rifle that likely is guaranteed to shoot 1/4"moa? ( he also isn't on the National Team ...just like you) ....with the option of adding a heavier 284 barrel and running in the open class at some point down the road?

Jeff, please just take a break from the internet for a while.
