Fuc*ing 10/22 stripped

My 10/22 receiver is junk I have not had this long but the 3 times I took it out it has stripped out the mount.. I up the od on the screw each time and it stripped all 3 times..


Any one have any tricks to this or should I just get a dlask receiver and be done with it??

Aluminum is a poor choice for receiver material, IMO. I just re-tapped to 8-32 yesterday.

A 10/22 mount screw should be tightened to 6 inch pounds. Not a lot of torque, and it's handy to have a torque screwdriver to do it in a controlled fashion.

I might have suggested a new receiver from Tuffer Buffer (think they sell them...?) but as a rule of thumb, I usually use Loctite...and tighten holding onto the short end of the wrench~hard to over-tighten or strip.

Little doubt though...you'll be in a good place with the Dlask.

Mine did the same. I just drilled and re-tapped for larger screws, then used red loctite. New receiver is a kinda expensive fix.
