Hello !

I am starting reloading 7mm Rem. Mag and am a bit confused what dies to get. (For semi-auto rifle). I was sure that I need full length but small base option confuses me as it seems that it resizes brass more. From what I understand, there is no point in neck die sets. So which dies should I get ?

I also see, there is now 3-dies set option. Do I need it or 2-dies set will do the job just as well ?

Thanks,
Igor.

I'm no reloading expert, but I use regular full length 2 die sets for neck sizing. It's just how you set up the die in your press. I use both Hornady and RCBS this way. I thought I read somewhere that you want to full length resize for semi autos but I am not sure. In any case you can buy the full length die and do both. I know they make the neck sizing die but I am not sure what the advantage of it would be.

Chad.

Just full length resize your cases for the semi, I wouldn't play around with necksize in the semi. In some extreme cases, that may not be enough and you may need small base dies. Keeping the chamber clean is most important and a dirty/corroded chamber should not be confused with a die problem. A set of FL (2die set) is all you should need.
