New to reloading and started with RCBS 7.62x39 FL dies and got good results in a CZ 527 Carbine. Unaware I bought a set of small base 30'06 dies off the EE and have been using them to reload for a Sako AV and a BAR. Now I'm aware that they are probably better for the BAR but I got good accuracy from the AV too and haven't noticed any problems. However Norma brass fired from the BAR will not chamber in any of my bolt action 30'06's even when reloaded with the SB die??? Can't figure that out. Solved the problem by getting some new Lapua brass.
Now I want to set up for another Sako in 308 and am trying to decide which dies to buy. What are the issues around deciding on full length or neck sizing dies? Also I've seen that you can get dies that use a bushing system rather than the expander ball for twice the price. I don't mind paying a bit more but need some help in understanding pros and cons of each system. Any opinions appreciated...

Neck sized brass will need to stay with that rifle. Then of course after 4-6 loadings they could start chambering a little on the tight side and will need to be full length sized anyway. Neck sizing dies without the expander ball will not iron out dented cases mouths either.
If you go with a bushing style neck sizer get yourself a body die too. You can run loaded rounds thru them safely to just size the body and bump the shoulder back enough to chamber the rounds. A body die in .30-06 might just solve your problem with the BAR brass so it fits into your Sako.
