Does anyone know what changes if any were made to Burris scopes when they changed the designation of the "Fullfield" line to "Fullfield II"? Does this have anything to do with their moving assembly of some scopes to the Philippines?

I have no idea,..but I'll tell you one thing...I have one of the Fullfield II's in a 3-9 and last Sunday I shot it on a Model Seven 243 alongside my 280AI wearing a Leupold VariX-II 3-9...the Burris is clearer and brighter than the VariX-II Leo...at least to my eyes...

Yeah, I'm plenty impressed. I'm currently looking at a 2x7 Fullfield......good price, clear optics, lots of eye relief (OK, a bit less than Leupold), and though I'm not crazy about gimmicky stuff, I can live with the Ballistic Plex reticle. It might even be useful. Should be a great scope for my Bob. The 3x9 model is a bit large for a Win 70 Fwt, and the 7x should be all I need; I may have to shoot out to 300 yards on yodel dogs, but I've never shot a deer past 175.
I asked about Burris scopes before on this forum; the only negative comments were about the rotating eyepiece, especially since that precludes the use of flip-up scope covers, which I don't use. That and a possibly dodgy warranty, although what I read on the Burris site is OK. Lifetime warrantee whether you are the original owner or not. The only drag is that you have to send the scope to the U.S., and I'm willing to risk that because for 20 years I've used only Tascos and cheap Bushnells, and I've never required scope repair. No fogging, no breakage, held zero. I mostly want a "better" scope for the clarity and better light transmission.

Just a couple of days ago my father and I were at the range with one Blurris FFII and 2 VX II's. It was night and day. I've read a half dozen people on the forums complain about the blurry ring you get when you turn the FLII up to 9 power but our VXII's stay clear as a bell all the way up. I don't like putting the FLII up past 6x.

We also had a Vari X III with us, was the same clarity as the VXII and miles ahead of the Blurris FFII.

We are bidding on ebay as we speak to replace the FFII with a VXII.

I still like the FFII better than my Bush 3200 though.

boonerbuck, when you are ready to see the Fullfield II, please get ahold of me. I love them, and personally prefer them to the Leopolds.

The eye relief on the Fullfields was more critical than it is on the Fullfield II's. The adjustment turret was also positioned far forward, and has now been centered in the FF II. The FF II has been lightened a bit.

In reference to comparison with Leupold, the Vari-X II has fully coated lenses, the older VX II's have multi-coated objective and ocular lenses with single coated lenses inside, and the newer VX II's now have fully multi-coated lenses to make them competitive with other scopes in that class. Burris Fullfield II's have fully multicoated lenses and a light transmission rating of 95% (same as elite 4200). I have a FFII and this is not an exaggeration. It is arguably the brightest and clearest scope I have (Comparable to my Weaver grand slam as well as my Zeiss)...certainly not "blurry". Coatings and glass quality determine brightness and clarity. With the possible exception of the new post-2004 VX II's, I am skeptical that they would be brighter than a Fullfield II. This is subjective anyway so I am not going to argue with someone else's opinion. However based on the the data available and my own experience with the Fullfield II, it is a quality scope which delivers a high level of performance.

I own 3 Fullfield II's.

I was so impressed withthe first, thenext two were no brainers.

Very clear and great in low light. Haven't lost zero once.

Have only had a side by side comparison to Var X I, and I think it won.

They are the work horse, and on a diet aswell, very light , strong, and a nice reticle. The differance I think is the 2 is newer , and lighter, with the rear of the scope that turn, not sure if this was the case with the first run.
Want a clear scope , the signature , its heavier by a bit, but has 40 % more glass, and is very clear with tons of FOV. :D
