My 20 yr old is home for the holiday, my 10 yr old has been waiting for months to see him. I took the two of them to the range today to dust off a couple rimfires. The boys set up battleship shoot n see targets and had a best of 3 shootout. 16 shots each per target as per the potential "hits" on the game board.

They had to first shoot the base of a 12 gauge hull before moving on to the battleship target, so they were allowed a total of 17 cartridges per round.

Older son won the final round for a tie breaker. Cumulative score resulted in my older son winning overall by two shots. Not bad shooting for a 10 year old going against his older brother with much more trigger time. 10 yr old was shooting a Savage 93R17 GLV (.17hmr) with a Weaver 3-9, 20 yr old was shooting a Mark II FV (.22) in a Boyd's stock with a Weaver T10.

Then we checked the shotgun hulls and the 10 year old shot the primer clean out of his. Which was followed by a nut shot from his older brother (closed fist too).

He then conceded it was a cheap shot and agreed to the final test. I set a 9mm case on its side (shooting at the base) and told him if he missed it his brother got to return the favor. He managed to save his berries by just catching the lower half of the base with his shot. Younger boy didn't have to shoot this one, was strictly for a chance at revenge.

Rules are rules, but I still think his little brother deserves satisfaction. I might hold his arms back so the young guy can get it :p.

Pretty fun day though, made putting holes in paper a little more interesting.

Probably brings back many fond memories for many. I know it will be remembered by a young man and his little brother, always. Thanks for sharing and have a great holiday season Cheers Chris
