Hey all. Just for some context, this is my first AR-style rifle.
Finally received my pre-order of one of these slick Freedom Ordnance FX-9s last week. 5 min out of the box and I noticed there's a fair amount of play between the upper and lower receivers. If I'm holding the thing and shift my hand position on the hand rail while looking at where the receivers meet, I can actually see the movement. I don't have a tool to measure the variance precisely, but to give you a rough idea, I can go from not being able to slip a sheet of paper in there to being able to slide the edge of one of my business cards into the gap.
I have read online (not sure if on CGN or elsewhere, couldn't find the thread again) that it's common for there to be some play (slop?) between the receivers on this gun, and on ARs in general, so I initially wasn't too worried. However, I just got off the phone with a friend who received his own FX-9 today, and he doesn't have the same problem, says his build is tight.
Is this something to be concerned about? Is it something I can remedy myself? Apart from the initial look, I haven't had time to take it out for a spin yet. Just worried about excessive wear and tear from the play causing issues down the road.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this and chime in.
