FYI - Digital Calipers @ Princess Auto - $9.99

if you happen to know a machinist ask him to check your calipers against a gauge block. "Precision tools" from princess auto send shivers up my spine. i would not be surprised if they are a couple thou out.

anybody have one of these ?

is it good ?

is it crap ?

one down side i can see, is that there is no ruler scale,
only the lcd screen, can't use it if you don't have batteries.
can't double check.

I bought mine about 3 years ago. It is crap. It is all plastic and only measures to the .01. The plastic is thin and flexes to so the reading is never good.

Canuk Tire has a steel caliper that measures right to the thousandth on this week for $12 I think.

Didn't house of tools go out of business?

Yes I believe this is correct. The house is out of business that is located by Russels in Calgary. Don't know if they are still around somewhere elss, but I paid ~$40 bones for my dial calipers - no digital and they are dead on!
