if you happen to know a machinist ask him to check your calipers against a gauge block. "Precision tools" from princess auto send shivers up my spine. i would not be surprised if they are a couple thou out.

i just found out that the regular price @ amazon is 8$

so it's not really a sale, princess auto just stopped charging
double the price for them.

I bought mine about 3 years ago. It is crap. It is all plastic and only measures to the .01. The plastic is thin and flexes to so the reading is never good.

Canuk Tire has a steel caliper that measures right to the thousandth on this week for $12 I think.

I picked up the Canadian Tire one about 2 years ago for $15 and it works fine. I compared it to the $200 set at work, and they both read the same.

Good enough for me.

I got the princess auto dial caliper, I'm no benchrest shooter, but it does what I ask it to.

I still find a dial much easier to compare measurements but you won't find a decent dial caliper for 9.99!

Yes I believe this is correct. The house is out of business that is located by Russels in Calgary. Don't know if they are still around somewhere elss, but I paid ~$40 bones for my dial calipers - no digital and they are dead on!
