Seen a few of these guns selling for around 4500. They are listed as vopo or expolice, some have plastic foregrips or the wood has been repaired. My question is what would a legit vet bring back be worth? Considering selling one and I know, "whatever the market will handle" but if what I've seen is worth 4500 a vet bring back should be considerable more. Am I out to lunch on this?

How original is it? The usual East German issue rifles have the sunburst marking and lots of forced matched numbers. There is nothing "wrong" with these rifles; they just have a history that is longer than WWII-only use rifles. The top handguard is not plastic, but a composite resin and sawdust material. (Someone will post the name of the materials.) As with any repair, if done well and appropriate to the wartime standards, there is nothing wrong.

Zefarm kicked a nice one out the door in the spring for $2500.00

Move this over to the Milsurp section, we have quite a few G/K rifle owners over there who could give you an educated answer. Post the usual pics of the interesting bits - like any other rifle, some years and some codes are more desirable than others.
