G19 in Production?

Hey guys,

I'm registered for a Black Badge course here in Kingston 2, 3, 4 May, and would be interested in further participation in IPSC, time and leave permitting.

I'm running a G19 for the BB, but can I use it in Production afterwards? It's got a Lone Wolf 106mm barrel to make it legal - does that put me in Standard Div? If so, I'll just buy an STI and say to hell with it. The barrel is a requirement for me to possess the pistol, if it makes any difference at all.

The Glock's also got (on their way now, actually) XS Bigdots, extended mag catch (factory), grip plug, and a factory 3.5lb connector (on it's way).

Also, because I'm an active member of the Forces, my interpretation of the rules is that I'm allowed to use an issue holster (So long as it's issued to someone IE 6004) and rig? If I can get away with the Glock in Production, I'll run an SOE Warbelt and Eagle mag pouches with my 6004 - less competetive, but train like you fight.

Thanks!

Brad

No you won't be able to use it in production...

Regarding the Duty Rig...it would be up the match Director...but if it's not your duty rig (what you wear while on duty) I wouldn't count on it. If the 6004 is in fact your duty rig, and the MD allows you to use it in the match...you would have to start each stage with the retailing strap engaged (same with the pouches)

My guess is the romance with the duty rig will wear off real fast ;)

I would contact the BB Instrcutor (MrClean) and give him the details. He can let you know where you stand...

And remember...trigger time is trigger time...but IPSC in not military training.

Have fun on the course...

Ah, it's what I feared - the US IPSC (USPSC?) rules appear to be a lot more accomodating.

Looks like I'll be looking for an Edge or an Executive or a Tactical or a or a or a....

Always wanted an STI anyway - Standard should be fun.

I've always thought that Canada should ask for an exemption to the barrel replacement rule but only for those handguns that require them in order to become legal.

GLOCK 17, 19, 20, 21, 21SF, 22, 23, 26, 27, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 36, 37, 38, 39

Also approved are variants with original Glock barrels which are longer than standard (e.g. 17A, 17DK), as well as variants with "Tactical", "Mariner" or similar OFM engravings on the slide, provided the barrel length does not exceed 127mm, and provided all other aspects of these variants fully comply with all other Production Division rules.

Not Approved:
18, 24, 25, 28, 34, 35, L and C models

The grip plug and the aftermarket barrel are what put you out of Production Division. Removing the grip plug and getting a longer factory barrel would get you back in.

Meh - no great loss on the G19. It'll still be my go-to gun to go with my Warfighter rig, but it looks like I'll be investing in something gofast if I want to shoot IPSC. Standard looks like great fun, and I've always wanted an STI.

There's an Executive on the forum right now with seven mags that catches my eye... Then all I need is a belt, and a holster, and magpouches, and a range bag, and .40 ammo.

I need to sell more ####. :)

I'm assuming so - and I'm not interested in paying more money to use my G19 in Production, I've already spent enough on it.

If I want to shoot Production, I guess I'll buy a $600 G17.

I just tried swithching barrels between my 17 and 19 - it DOES NOT work. Lugs are different.

So, Mr. Fritz, do you know if there are such things as longer G 19 barrels from the factory?

Sorry, I don't know of any specific longer G19 barrels. I was just quoting the appropriate entry in the production table. There may not, in fact, be longer barrel for the G19 available from Glock.

Also includes your Duty Sidearm. Its whatever rig you use at work. You being a Officer at RMC, It would be a Inglis HP would be your duty sidearm and duty rig would be that POS M9 holster and pouches. That rule really more for LEO. For duty rigs..

actually I think you could use it with a non factory barrel that is necessary to make it make legal status. As there is another country out there that got an exemption to do just that. And I don't think it was for a factory barrel either. Not 100% sure on that though.

Glock has apparently made specific versions of the G17 (G17A and G17DK) for the Australia and Denmark markets to meet their legal requirements, if that is what you are referring to.

Alright, no harm, no foul. Looks like I'm scraping together funds to swoop down and pick up that Executive from Dragonslayer.

Anyone want to make a donation? Could be a while on OCdt pay.
