I have been pining for a subcompact or compact glock. Unfortunatly it will have to be restricted. Can someone who has shot both give me a range report with pro's and con's on both.

Thanks :)

sure. they are two of the finest pistols ever made. my G19 has well over 20,000 through it (and that's a conservative guess) with zero malfunctions. except user induced ones during training. i run a g19 when i train, with a 26 as back-up. excellent combination. accuracy is relative to the user, and how much you are willing to train. i can easily make head-shots at 25-30 meters, and have no problem hitting small dots (one inch or less) at ranges between 3-10 meters. (yeah i miss my fair share).

i'd say get the 19, the 26 will be harder to find holsters for, due to the extended barrel.

the pistol will be as accurate as you can ask for, and you won't have to spend very much on parts and maintenance, if at all for the first while.

as always, my opinion is worth what you paid for it. i'm a glock guy, and although they may lack the supposed beauty of other brands, not many can argue that they aren't one of the toughest, reliable pistols out there.

I've shot both G19 and G26 in 12(6) form with the factory barrels. I found the G26 really torqued in my hand. Even much more so than the G27 in .40 cal with the factory barrel. Anyway, between the two if I was going for one I'd still get the G19. I'm 12(6) and can own a prohib version but I wouldn't feel disadvantaged with a G19 with a restricted length barrel. It can still be a nice looking pistol, not to mention very functional.

If we didn't need the longer barrel G26 would be nice to have, but they look kinda ridicules with that much barrel sticking out. Not to mention you cant use it for what it was designed to do - carry concealed. Glock 19/23 all the way, but even then why not get a G17 for a few hundred less?

no point in having a barrel sticking out, might as well have some more slide and fram around it to help with recoil. g26 will be very snappy recoil..
I have G19 fact. barrel and it's great gun... go for G19...good balance gun.
depending on what you want it for, whats wrong with g17, anyways ?

some gun magazine i read long time ago, said g19 was very good for front sight falling in back place nicely after each shot, for better follow ups... it was article comparing it head to head with the sign 228 (I think, the smaller 9m sig model), wich is also a great gun., sig won accuracy and refinement, comfort of grip, g19 won feeding (by margin) and the recoil follow shootability...

The recoil on a G26 is hardly noticeable compared to a G19 or even a G17. Follow up shots are where that increased recoil play a factor, nowhere else.

I won't but a gun that has the barrel sticking out the end. It looks silly and it's not the original gun as designed.

While overall I would lean to the G19 if you go with a G26 be sure to get fingertip extensions for the mags.

They allow you to get your pinky finger on the grip & make the gun far easier to hold & control. You can also get 1 shot mag extensions to make the mags 10 round capacity. If Canada had CCW I would probably carry my G26.

 I know what you mean. Looks always affect accuracy and function.

If you run the finger tab floor plates you might as well buy a G19. There is no need for such gimmicks. The G26 with flush fit magazines is more than controllable.

Other then Questar does anyone know another dealer that might have a gen 3 G26

I have two of them.. Oh sorry, you were looking to buy one, nevermind..;)

The Glock 19 is the nicest handling of all the Glocks in my experience, and if you get the extra barrel length threaded you can always use a can on it in the US. (assuming of course that you comply with all Federal, State, Local, Provincial, International, and Divine Laws.) Blueline had some small Glocks a while ago.
