Just got this the other day and its in nice shape. Non matching parts ...but from what Ive seen & read these rifles are mostly built this way. My question is on the reciever under the 4 digit number is the letter J?

What is the J thing all about??? I will send pics soon.

Just part of the serial number. They would fill out the 4 digit numeric sequence with a letter assigned to that block and then move on to the next letter and fill out the next numeric sequence.

I was going to raise the same question as Chupac. I've seen a few all matching examples which lead me to agree with him...

G24 T

I guess from my understanding (which) could be wrong when the nazis took over the Czech factory they used VZ-24 parts and started to also use/make waffen parts to build, so in fact although there are matching G24's there are many which were built in factory using exsisting parts with Czech markings.

There have been members from other gunboards who are qualified that have stated this to be true also? Hey either way I love this rifle and that cant be mistaken. When you take over a factory you use there parts which work well to. Most of these rifles are mismatched in this way but I would not call them RC as they quite possibly came out of the factory like this at first. Comparing that to a K98 RC is apples /oranges to me. again I could be wrong Im just looking for info on a great rifle. Thanks again.;)

Interesting. You very well could be correct.
Either way, you're right about having a beauty if a rifle.
Now lets see those pics!

I found this on another forum. It is in reference to a guy's pristine G24(t).

"It's marked "dou 42" and the serial number on the bolt is stamped along the shaft, not on the knob. Only the receiver and bolt are serialized, and mine's in a Vz.24 stock. Many G.24(t) have either the wrist swivel removed and plugged, or a slot cut in the buttstock for a K98-type sling."

"To be honest, I've never disassembled it, and the stock has no marks whatsoever. According to some folks, being a J suffix, it was maybe overhauled post-war."

Jim

JIM, trent hills ehh just a stones throw from Peterpatch(wink)!

I really enjoy this rifle, Ive also fired 15 rounds out of it and have been surprised by its accuracy, especially with me shooting it (HAHAHAHAHA):p
