Picked one up and finally got a chance to check the trigger out. Was way past the scale of my pull gauge. I relocated the trigger pad, shortened the trigger bar, polished any surfaces that touch and removed the gen 4 bump. This has given me a smooth 4# trigger with a slightly shorter pretravel, crisp break and very little overtravel with a good reset. This is with all factory parts and factory "-" connector. I have some wolf competition springs ordered and a few different aftermarket connectors to try. From what I've read the springs can take a a little over a lb off?? And the connectors seem to be hit or miss with many preferring the oem minus as a "mushy" but lighter trigger is often attributed to many of the aftermarket connectors.

Looking to see where others have ended up, whats worked and whats not etc. Relocating the pad and shortening the trigger bar had a huge impact for me. My scale went to 5# and I was well over that. Can't find an LW firing pin in stock as I've read you often need a longer FP with the competition springs so that is next on my list. Also ordered a few trigger bars to play with.

These glock parts are like crack lol.

I have the same Glock and would like to do some work on the trigger as well. How hard is it to do ?? Any pics ??
I am a real newbie when it comes to this type of work.
Thanks

This is what I used to get my measurements for the trigger bar and pad mods. I used exactly the same measurements. I'm guessing I got at least 1.5# off with that work. Its about a 15 min job IF you can drill the trigger bar lol. You need a good drill bit. I used a center drill on a mill to start mine so it was pretty easy. A carbide drill would work well.

The poster above claims a 2-2.5 trigger with all oem parts but but I think he did not actually measure it, I believe some springs need to be changed to get that low. If you read post #12 on:

The poster JoeD mentions a 4# wolf spring

I have an OEM (-) minus connector with a spare 4lb firing pin spring from one of my Vanek drop in trigger kits in my Gen 4 G19. Offers a pretty good improvement over stock trigger.

I installed an aftermarket connector (Wolf I think) in my G17 and was not really impressed with the slight improvement.

I then installed drop in Vanek Classic trigger kits in my Gen 3 G35 and G17 Glocks. I since sold the G35.

I still have the G17 and with the Vanek 2lb firing pin spring along with the drop in kit, it is a vast improvement over stock. For the money ($125.00) the kit offers a great trigger that can be installed in minutes and gets you away from what I did before and you are doing now, polishing bits, buying different connectors, springs and experimenting.

Thanks for the info!
For me the fiddling is half the fun and it does come pretty cheap. I read the heart of the Vanek trigger was changing the geometry by relocating the pad and shortening the trigger bar. Can you confirm by any chance or do you have photos? I wanted to order one to check it out and duplicate it but was not sure if you can still get em shipped up here.

Cheers

I can measure items and dimensions, plus take some photos and send them to you.

Or, better yet, as I don't shoot my G17 much these days, I could remove the Vanek kit and mail it to you so you can check it out and when you're done mail it back.

Or, even better, if you are interested, I can probably get a new Gen 4 Vanek kit for you! I'm considering buying one for my Gen 4 G19, so it would be a matter of ordering 1 or 2.

PM me if you want to discuss.

I like the bump on the trigger bar it prevents trigger bar flex. I find the stock Gen 4 trigger fine the way it is "maybe am just nutz"
