Peter Wilde and I found a target location on FP4 (same range we use now) for a 2-mile target placement. The target is 3232m. We also managed to re-jig a few targets, the 2400m plate we always had on the right side of range, is now on the berm by the right of arc (2570m), gravel bed (2605m), another potential spot in-between the 2 mile (3125m), and finally our 2-mile target placement (3232m). We couldn’t find anything viable for 3000m, but I’ll keep searching for that this season. The 2-mile spot is fully developed already. Huge mound from years of tanks and artillery shooting it. Huge backstop to help spot FOS along with a prominent high feature and a lot of flat ground (relatively flat) wide open around, we just need to get a work party made up to setup and clear the scrubs and stuff out of the target area. Our plan is to build it June 28-29 weekend (our next FP4 shoot) with Wilde and I taking the lead on that. Pretty awesome if you think about it! Hopefully, we can gather many more shooters to try their luck at the 2-mile target! We will have Adam MacDonalds hit markers on the targets there to help with visual cue when impact is made. And even if we can get, a 2-mile longshot camera to help to spot better as well (if we find someone who has one that will let us use)
My plan was simple, have a great FOV from the bed of a truck so that we don’t need to worry about shooting up in the tower. As of right now Wilde and I are ramrodding this along with Andrew Justason as we will be the main players for that target. If you have any questions or anyone interested in coming, please give them my contact info and they can call/text/email me. The only thing I ask if guys are coming to shoot the 2-mile plate, they come and help develop it to cut down on prep time and more time trying to smack it. Feel free to push to all your contacts. This will be a constant target setup unless the PRS guys need both days. So LOTS of attempted from now till end season.
