Hi all
I recently acquired one of Gairlochian's scope mount for a Lee Enfield No4. Here are some of my observations. I shared them with Gairlochian before writing this post. it is a great mount for anyone with a No 4 or No5.
I tried the mount as received, and there was a problem with the ejection. The screw was not long enough. I did the hole for the ejector a bit deeper, the screw did not go far enough. However this can change from rifle to rifle, so it is ok with me.
Next I removed a bit of material inside the mount, to get a good 90 deg. mounting surface. This is also something that can change from rifle to rifle.
I also did not find Weaver No 1 base here in town, but I got 2 smaller one (61 is the number written on them) that works just as good.
And lastly, I could not fit a screwdriver to attach the back screw, so I found some hex-head screw that makes easier to attach.
Great product, I highly recommend it to everyone !!
