Dunno if this is the right place but o well, we need some way to monitor who goes into a private camp ground of ours over the early spring and winter, naturally if theres wildlife in the area id like to know that to, but the topic came to put up trail cameras, they want some kind of report from me so Whats a good brand that will function good in the cold, how bad the LEDS glow, what they cost where to buy them whos warranty sucks, things like that. what do I need to know

Bushnell with the No-Glow technology. HD Max I think it's called? You can't see the LED glow. Use Energizer Lithium batteries, the silver ones with blue writing. I get a few thousand pictures during whitetail season when it's cold on a set of batteries. Cabela's has them for $300, or less when on sale. Try to hide it a bit though, as headlights might pick up a reflection. In other words, place them kind perpendicular to the trail or so they get a picture of the back of the vehicle.

I've been using one to try and catch some sob who has been breaking into neighbourhood vehicles. Hardest part is just trying to find a place for it to blend in and still take pictures. I bolted it inside one of those metal security boxes and used lag bolts to attach it to a tree.

Camera I'm using is a spy point cell cam, mini live I believe it's called. Even though it's only in my backyard, I can check its status, pictures and settings remotely. It's also got a gps tracking device, so if someone makes off with it,myou drive to their house and politely ask for it back. Or, if you are so inclined, you can report it stolen and spy point will terminate the camera, permantly, so it can never be used again. Happy with it so far. I've got an external battery and a cheap solar panel, so when it's setup I never have to go near it.

Trail cams are not generally going to provide the definition need for positive identification of a human face. You need to spend big bucks on the camera to get that, especially at any distance over about 30 feet.

Buy two of them and set one up to snap pics of the main camera. Wish I had done this last year as it would have been nice to hopefully ID the dirt bag scum that made off with my game cam and ground blind.
