Both local Sporting Clays clubs open again - a few limits, but nothing serious. First local NSCA shoot in the books. CNSCA back on line too now. Guns tuned up and likely more than enough ammo to get through the season. Winchester AA rebate is active. We were only down for a bit, but it's so good to be back. Gonna be a good year.

Our club is opening this Saturday for skeet, trap & 5 stand (rifle & pistol as well but I do mostly SG). Looking forward to it. Another club I'm a member of is opening on May 30 and I'm hoping we get into our 5 stand league shortly thereafter. Standard Ontario guidelines for distancing, clubhouse etc.

Silver Willow is selling EZPull Voice controllers. Something I've been thinking about and removes the last contact risk. I've read good and bad about the voice. Guess I'll find out.
Came this close to buying a sxs this week. Just too long and a bit heavy. Still haunting me. :HFU:f:P:

If it is for Sporting, too long and heavy is about perfect.

I think I've dragged this off topic, but I started the thread as a happy time thing. :)

I agree the weight thing for sporting. My main SC gun is an F3 with 32" bbls. This would only be used for sporting clays - but just for fun. It's 28g. I own a Beretta 28g 687 with baby frame and I love it. The LOP on the SxS was the big problem. My ideal LOP is about 13 3/8. (Hobbit) I could have made the back trigger work at 14", but I'd need an assistant to pull the front trigger for me. (Social distancing problem unless I could talk my wife into it.) Beautiful gun, but I've had a couple stocks cut lately. Reluctant.

Did I mention the decision is haunting me?

Everyone should own a 28 gauge SxS. I liked my AYA number 2, but I like my Grulla Consort even more. It is actually a bit short and light for sporting clays, but it just feels right for hunting upland birds over a pointer, and it is okay for the odd round of skeet.

Odds of getting the virus in Canada .21 % about the same as winning a HOA with a 28ga in sporting clays...

All in fun let’s break em all.

Silver Willow has had voice controllers for some time that you can use if your shooting by your self, they work well! You just have to ask at the front desk for them. You can program them for report pairs, singles or true pairs, I've been thinking of getting my own too.

Silver Willow is currently promoting shooters purchasing a voice release to address Covid concerns. That is what Rob was referring to.

I know that, I was merely stating that they have had them in the past and that my experience with them has been good.

Thanks. Amy has suggested I try one in the past. I hesitated because I saw people having difficulties. Puuull. Poolllllll. PULL! Guess it doesn't like some voices. I'll definitely try one now since there is another reason for a personal controller. Thanks for the feedback.

I have had some trouble with having to call multiple times but not a lot, mostly it works well. I think mic placement is critical and the unit is able to tell the difference between your gun snapping shut and the shooter calling pull so there is more to it than just triggering at any old sound it picks up.

I guess that my only complaint about the voice controllers is that they aren't blue tooth connected between the mic and controller. The controller is blue tooth connected to the trap controller but the mic is not, it would have seemed to me to be a no brainer to do that so you don't have a cord getting in your way.

Voice controllers, I wish. At our club one of the young kids that works as a puller is so busy on their bloody phone or vape the only reliable way to get a target is to text "Pull" to her .......................

I have had my own voice release for years and I will take a “good” Trapper on the button any day for Sporting. I like voice release for Trap though.
