Garand appreciation of value

They kick like mules. But totally worth it imho. If I recall FOC had a few refurbished by Vulcan in Ontario for $2,300 ish. About where the market is these days for em.

how's the recoil of the garand? like sks or more like 308?

A lot less than a bolt action. Given the weight of the M1 and being semi-auto tames it a bit and using ammo loaded down to Garand specs helps too. I love my 1954 LMT barreled IHC with all matching IHC parts. I wonder what my baby is worth these days?

With the cost of parts and the exchange rate now. I think the re conditioning of Garand rifles will come to an end.
Assembly of Garand rifles is very costly because of the shortage of parts and their cost when you can
find them

Yup I realized my previous post about kicking like a mule was due to 180gr modern ammo. Hard on the op rod and generally not recommended - stick to 150gr and preferably AE or PPU Garand specific loads. She be pretty soft indeed with the PPUs I was using last weekend.

If I could have purchased an FN C1 I would have, however my 1944 Springfield Armory Garand is a nice weapon to fire.

I have the Mcann gas plug kit in mine and was shooting 168HPBT Match and had less recoil then my M14.
I now use 150 Hornady FMJ Match and even less recoil. 44gr of IMR 4895 with the gas kit, the bolt just comes back enough to grab the next round. Very nice to shoot. I recommend reloading for them as well.

I don't understand why they are $3000. They aren't rare. Maybe because most of them say "Springfield" on them people go by M1A Super match prices?
