Nice family! What do you mean by "matched" I thought garands didn't have matching serial numbers, just "drawing numbers"? Just curious.

From a distance #8 looks like it might be one of the Danish Breda or Beretta receivers with the welded on brackets for a night vision device. If so, how did you adapt it for a scope mount?

Not alot of options and with the two big ears hanging out the pic rail is the easy way to go, I have a couple of old 40's / 50's 3/4 tube weaver scopes so eventually I will change one over with one of those but they are dove tail mount , so I will have to machine a custom dove tail rail in order to mount it up the same way. I think it will look better and more period correct.

Some nice looking guns there, but you have to get rid of the picatinny scope mounts... it just seems so... wrong on an M1.

"Matched" when speaking about M1 Rifles usually means the parts come from the same manufacturer. Springfield Armory, for example.
Three of those, while pretty, wouldn't have existed 70 years ago, yesterday. Not that it matters.
The 'navy' got a proper barrel or is it one of the unsafe to shoot "we don't want to spend any money" chamber insert rifles? Just curious.

correct, #7 and #8 both are the same type, they are those Danish armorers welded "D" models for the IR scope (what a monstrosity) I am happy with this adaptation makes for a nice strong mount, I have made a few of them for different builds, but is time consuming to fit so it is relatively parallel to the bore. Works well with this el cheepo scope I am using on it right now, sits decent for eye relief and for clip ejection, somewhat sucks for me as I am a lefty for rifle so it is a stretch to get to that side, but shooting it right is nice.

It is really not a lot different than the std. c and d models other than cuts the cost by about a $1000 and you can use a modern scope, which for #8 that I use for hunting is ideal, I have the irons on it also, so makes for great flash sighting for fast shots under a 100, I also drop it into a folding para stock when in the bush and when cross slung makes the extra weight manageable.

If a person has old eyes or prefers glass or you’re shooting past a couple hundred meters with 30.06, brings the group back into line.

To circle back and answer your question directly I use the Danish holes and I have made a custom fastener that taps into the rail, there is more to it than that but that is the short answer. I am guessing you probably have some of these Danish "D”‘s?

Not sure , as I have not had a chance to get in side with a bore scope, the barrel is matched with the receiver so I suspect that it is an incert, this one is a curious rifle I have been meaning to talk to the last owner, and find out some more on it if I can, would like to know if was an original military conversion or was done later on, has one of the 7.62 BR blocks in it.
