garand/ m1a barrel clamp

im looking for the barrel o.d. dimention where the barrel clamp rests on both the m1 garand and m1a.

i will be making a few tools for my current/future projects at work wile im in training (read boredom) i will also be making a few gas cylinder lock wrenchs and maybe a few other tools. any other recomendations?

hedgehog: In my clinic I always recommend the welfare/cheaper way ... that's the way my NRA High Power Coach always advocated instead of running out to Brownell's and spending lots of money (that most of us would rather not do).

I had a machinist shooter buddy measure the OD of my M1 Garand barrel. Then he made vise blocks with a smaller (0.020") OD... 20 thou crush he calls it.

Does that make sense ?

but i dont own a garand barrel yet (still looking for one) so i cant measure yet. ill just hold off till i find one and measure it myself. i was just hopeing to get a start on the blocks this week in tranning.
