I would like to know what a fair price i could ask,
for a Winchester Garand I have.
Exellent condition, two different slings, bayonette, several en-blocks,
and lots of brass.
in the past i shot it often in 3 gun matchs, but for the past few years
it's has been a safe queen.
I want to be able to sell it to buy a coyote rifle in .204 ruger.
Maybe a SPS 700 or Savage 10 or 12.

WRA Garands command a premium price if they are in original condition with all WRA parts. These are very tough to find, especially original receiver, barrel, and stock combinations. Most WRA parts can be located to restore a rifle to all WRA configuration, but the barrel and stock are the usual showstoppers. Most WRA rifles seen today are arsenal rebuilds with a combination of various makers parts(mostly Springfield).Rebuilds are valued on overall condition.Assuming that wood/metal finish is in VG+ condition with a sound barrel, one would expect to sell the piece in the $800-$1000 range.

An all correct/original Win Garand, in good condition is worth $2000 to $3000 not $800. If it's a rebuild, IMHO it's worth no more that a rebuild Springfield in the same condition. But, many will pay more for one, because they are more rare that a SA.... but to me, a rebuild is just a rebuild... a good shooter and nothing more.

maybe 2-3k in the US not in canada

us prices have no bearing here

I have 3 irwin pedersen M1 carbines all orig matching VERY VERY rare not many made even less left now in the us they would be worth several thousand each here in canada they would never sell for those prices

Really!! right now M1 Garands are cheaper in the States than here. The rifles people are paying $800 for up here are going for around $400 down south these days... I have a 100% correct and 98% original Winchester, and I know of a few fellow collectors in Canada that would "gladly" give me $2000 for it in a flash.

Over the last 5 or 6 years watching Garands being sold here on the EE, I've only seen about 2 or 3 "collector" grade rifles sold. One was the Win I have, and another was a 100% correct/original Breda in mint conditon.

PS: Were talking M1 Garands here, not Girly Boy Carbines.... ;)

My impression is that folk in Canada are far less willing to pay collector grade prices than are people in the US. For example, what do you suppose a verified M1C would fetch here when people are paying up to $7-9K for them in the US? I think there are just fewer people in the collector market here.I'm always surprised with the tire kickers who still expect to pay $4-$500 for a VG condition Garand.

I paid a hefty price for my Garand, which is an all matching Breda. But when I looked around, H&R Garands were going for nearly as much, and not in nearly as good condition.

Go ahead and post it on the EE - put a 2g price on it like Striker says it's worth, and we'll watch the weekly BTT for the next 2 years...:p

In 1995, worth about $275-$325 in the condition you describe, just like from Districorp in Special Select Condition.

Where are these $400 Garands in the U.S? I live south during the school year, and they're all upwards of $800 that I've seen. Even parts kits are selling for $400, without receiver. In Canada, M1's were sub $600 rifles until that batch came in a year or so ago. IIRC, those were originally priced at $800 and up, but seem to have come down some since then. Of course, now every chump with a Garand, regardless of maker or condition seems to think it's a $1000 gun. We really are our own worst enemies when it comes to price gouging.

If any are going for $400 , then that is through the CMP. Which then are turned around and sold on the secondary market for more. Have your "few fellow collectors" PM me. I have a few very very nice Garands I would be willing to sell for $2k.
