Garand receivers

Back a year or 2 ago an italian receiver could be had for between 70 and 100 bucks.
Today,a WWII receiver can be had for 400 plus.
Prices are crazy now and thats even IF you can find one.

Pitting below the stock line in USGI receivers is sometimes the norm,as long as it's not excessive.
Finish wear,as long as it' s not actual metal wear is inconsequential.
A park job is easy to do on your outdoor bbq.
Nick @ vulcan can reweld bad pitting but it's pricey.
I'd say a mint refinished unpitted receiver SA WWII or even post WWII is somewhere between 450 and 500.
Are you looking to sell one or buy one?

I have a H@R garand that I bought for parts a few years ago, I stripped it for parts ,the receiver is pitted all under the receiver line ,above the stock isn't to bad there's still lots of finish left the pitting doesn't affect the functioning ,I don't know whether to sell it or use it for another project.

Do you have pics of the pitting?
Receivers are gettying hard to find.especially non SA ones.
Post some pics and maybe you can bead blast it and then repark it.
Or you can send it out to be professionally redone.

I think it was re Parkerized at some time ,the pitting is bad under the wood line but above it it doesn't look to bad ,it would be a good candidate for just being a shooter , .not a mint collector peace .
