Obama appears to want to stop milsurp imports. Bad for Americans but good for us. Availability and price was much better here before the C&R law in the U.S.

Imagine $299 Garands......

No doubt. Check out the guy in the rear crowning the muzzles.... :)

The certainty of new M1 imports was always there - so many were made - it was just a question of when and for how much.

This new measure likely hurts us in the long run. Wendy will be all over the hill saying "even the extreme US gun culture doesn't allow the import of these dangerous military-grade weapons, why is it still legal in Canada?". Milsurp collecting and importing is a niche and an easy target IMHO. NOT GOOD.

Next, Obama will ban the export of C&R guns, meaning no more matching WW2 bringbacks off gunbroker for us. Just wait for it.

I've been waiting since July 2009 for more Garands in a large shipment. Not to say it couldn't happen (I'm not a importing expert) but I have a feeling this proposal won't go too far because of the CMP in the US.

The guns belong to the US. If the US decides they do not want then reimported they can simply ask for them to be destroyed. It is unlikely they will be ok with having them shipped to Canadian civilians for the same reason they don't want them to go to US civilians.

X2. I would have to concur with this as well. This is not a new trend.

I don't see why it is good for us. American wont lets us buy theyr garand , theyr are already uber protective and garand.
And theyr is not so many garand here and I don't see anyone who will importe them here.

My head hurts after reading that.

I would love a grand but not at the current price point they seek. Unless the US government says too South Korea " you keep them they are yours" I do not foresee any being imported too Canada. I doubt we would even see them broken down for parts.
