Gas checks

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but if I were to use cast bullets in my 45, are gas checks required?

If they are designed for a .45acp they are likely a plain base design, and will not accept a gas check.
If they are a gas check design they will require a gas check for best accuracy.

gas checks are needed only over 1150ft/sec, you can use them @ any vel. if you've got 45colt check out Ben Hanchack

It's actually Ben Hunchak and I'm not aware of any molds made for the .45 ACP (without crimp groove) that have provision for the GC, the powerful .45 Colt's is a different story.
