I have had no problems with my nork gas cylinder. function is excellent.but the metal finish is rough looking. has any one tried polishing(sandblasting?)the metal to a smooth finish?Mine looks like crap compaired to the rest of the rifle.I have a hard time spending the coin on a usgi just for looks.To re finish the metal and re-parkerised would be sweet

From what I am to understand, the USGI gas cylinder is stainless steel while the Norinco isn't. You shouldn't have a problem cleaning up and parkerising the Norinco one. If you were to replace it with a USGI gas cylinder, you wouldn't be happy with the finish on that one either. Also, the USGI cylinder is slightly different diameter inside and out so it doesn't fit well on the chinese barrel.
