So i'm in the midst of replacing my barrel with a new one. The new one comes with the A2 FSP already installed (like my previous). As I test-fit the gas tube back into the FSP, I see that the retaining holes don't line up. The gas tube is inserted as far as possible into the FSP, but requires another mm for the holes to match up. Question is, can I just sand or buff off some metal at the front of the tube it make her fit?

You mean the gas tube won't go into the block deep enough to get the retaining pin in?

I'd probably grind a bit off the end if that were the case, but it would be nice to know which part was out of spec.

Correct... I think i'll just grind it a bit.
It's probably the gas tube, but I don't have another carbine length to test.
I guess I'll find out soon enough when I try to remount my 2 piece rails back into the delta ring. I can forsee a lot of bloody curses...

Are you sure it's pressed in all the way? My midlength was very tight going into the gas block. Did you look into the front sight base and make sure there isn't any junk in there? (carbon build up)? It honestly should fit in, just very tight.

You don't need a carbine length tube to test it on the gas block. They're all the same on that end.

Do some measurements of your parts before you start cutting things. It's more likely an install error than an out of spec part. At least that's been my personal experience.

If you do find that one of the parts is out of spec, just replace it instead of "Bubbaing" it together.

measure how much the gas tube goes in, and then measure the depth of the hole. this will at least tell you if the block is out of spec or not
