It had a small area of surface rust on the slide release..after I stripped the parts off it I figured..what the heck.

Thanks Speckfire.
I'm going to get a set of black grips for it. The wood doesn't look as good now with the brushed stainless coated frame.

I agree too - but you'd better have a big hand...
That shouldn't be to much of a problem. You carry any? ;)
Nats I used GunKote. Brushed stainless on the frame. The decocker, transfer bar, trigger and assorted pins are done in matte black.
The slide is original Taurus finish. If I had a really nice set of wood grips I'd leave them on it. However..the factory ones are not much better then cheesy..although when my sample of the air cured gun kote gets here....

Well, since you have the stuff humour me. Strip it, and do the slide silver and the frame black. Since you asked...

Oh and yeah, black grips.

Looks great! Good job. Now you've gotta get yourself a rum and coke so I can start callin you Julien. :D

Thanks for the compliments guys. It's a great stress reliever to go out in the garage and work on a firearm. I like the before and after part..
Just an edit to comment on gunkote. This stuff goes on very thin. I coated the frame inside and out and all the levers, pins, etc and it went back together with no clearance issues.
It blends very well. I redid the tang on a Savage rifle we refinished and you couldn't tell where I had removed the first layer of gunkote. I had visions of feather edging it or redoing the whole receiver.
Dosing..stop flapping your lips and make my crib board...
